Projects
We are currently involved in a number of Internet Portal Projects, currently focused heavily on search engine positioning and specifically optimizing for the Scandinavian market where the new international IDN domains have been released lately. IDN domains contain international characters such as the é in café.
It is now possible to register the domain name "café.com" but if your intended audience is English speaking there is definately no point in doing so. English speakers are not used to these international characters and can't even find them on their keyboards. Not so for most Europeans, they may be more likely to actually try "café.com" than the easier "cafe.com". This opens up many possibilites, as you may already have understood. With an Internet audience of roughly the same size as America's, this customer group that does know how to handle the international characters is a commercially interesting group to reach.
Try this link to see if your browser supports IDN domain names or not: www.bilnätet.se (The Car Network - in Swedish). If your browser interprets the link as www.xn--bilntet-8wa.se you will need to upgrade to a later release in order to get the IDN support.
